Birthdays, big waves, and a good book!

Happy Sunday!
Sundays can be terrible, because that means that monday is right around the corner... Fortunately for me, the days of the week have no meaning whatsoever anymore.

Lots going on in the last week or so. My birthday was the 8th.. 24 years old.. don't ask, I don't know how it happend, and I don't know where the time went.. I ask myself the same questions over and over.. Husband stepped up and got me an incredible birthday gift! A KitchenAid Mixer, professional series 600!! I have been wanting one since I was like 5.. seriously! Although this isnt actually a picture of mine, or quite the right one, this is what it looks like! The thing is seriously massive--the box claims it can do 13 DOZEN cookies or 8 POUNDS of mashed potatoes! amazing right!
Outside of my birthday, there were some WAY bigger things going on the last few days. The 8.9-9.0 earthquake in Japan that triggered tsunami waves across the entire Pacific Ocean. My prayers go out to Japan and all who are there, or have family or friends there during this truly tragic time. I read earlier that the deathtoll continues to rise as THOUSANDS were found this morning. So sad. And the nuclear power plants are causing even more cause for concern. I seriously hope they are able to contain the plants and prevent as much damage as possible.
My prayers for this tragedy hit way closer to home than comfort allows. Most of my family lives right on the Southern Oregon Coast. I woke up Friday morning, opened my computer to see a red bar across my computer claiming tsunami waves were going to hit the US west coast. Needless to say my heart jumped through my chest, and my phone rang at the same time. It was my mom, asking if she was going to hear from us with concern about them being drowned. Although there were some small swells and damage costs are high in some areas, we can call ourselves lucky. There are few fatalities, and local heroes stepped up as strangers were swept to sea. The panic that sets in your body when you realize a natural disaster might hit where your family is and there is nothing you can do but worry, is the worst feeling ever. Especially when you realize how incredibly real the danger is. The southern Oregon coast sits directly on a major fault line, that experts say is expected to move anytime. When this happens our coast will be just like Japan, or Chili, or Haiti, the dangers and fatalities will be the same. My home town will be completely locked to itself, if not completely washed away. Just reminders to us all that the earth is powerful and we all need to pay attention.

On a happier note: I finally read "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" By Steig Larson. Excellent book. The first 60-80 pages are hard to get into, but believe me, its worth the struggle. I just finished the book earlier today and am eagerly awaiting the time to start the next in the series "The Girl Who Played With Fire"

Enjoy your week and remember to respect nature!

Weird moments, new clients, and another year gone!

Have you ever had one of those moments? I know we have all had those moments- myself, I've had at least 50 trillion of those moments. You all know what moments I am talking about- the ones that you wish never existed for one reason or another. Well I have had several days of those moments lately. It's flat out annoying. Sometimes I can pinpoint exactly what is causing that moment, and other times I wouldn't even know where to start looking.

Moving on...
I got a call the other day that made my heart jump out of my chest.. someone was calling ME about helping them book a spring break vacation! That's right.. my FIRST client as a travel agent! It's thrilling! They wanted to do a cruise as they never have had that experience before, however only the dad (out of the family of 5) has his passport, so, alas, a cruise is out of the question. BUT don't fret.. I am thinking that a southern California mash-up is on the agenda for them. 8-9 days enjoying the hospitality of our southern neighbor.
*3 day passes to Disneyland and Disney Adventure Park
      *1 day at Universal Studios
      *1 day at Seaworld
*1 day at the San Diego Zoo
*1 day at Knotts Berry Farm
*1 day at Soak City (the water park of Knotts Berry Farm)
*and a dinner at Medieval Times
Doesn't that sound like a great way for a 7 year old, a 13 year old, a 15 year old and their parents to spend a spring break??!! I hope they like the idea as much as I do!

Well, that's all for tonight. Off to go eat some chocolate chip cookies and watch a movie as I count down the days to Tuesday when another year is marked down on the calendar and I turn 24! Yikes!

Sleep Well!

Coffee, Alaska, and Friends

Good Evening All!
I spent the day training in coffee :) Today was my second day in my Starbucks training and the assistant manager that I was working with has told me that I am a barista in his eyes! I have already completed all the things for certification, I just need to get more comfortable with the starbucks recipes :) One day I will know how to do coffee art!

My best friend recently moved to Kentucky.. it feels like a world away, but she has left me to follow a new step in her path and I know she is loving it and will rock the socks off it! :) It is definitely hard to have her gone, and to find myself alone when I wish she was there with me. But, life must go on and we find ways to accept the changes that happen in life, and learn to love them and adapt to the new moments.

New Ideas, Good Food, and a New Step

Good Afternoon!! Hope all is well with all of you, the weather here in Beaverton is a little crazy, it was hailing sideways about 15 minutes ago and now.. blue skies.. what can you do?!
To start things off on the right foot lets talk food! Last night Justin and I went to Chevys to dinner for some good mexican :) We both had a fajita combo plate that included chicken and steak fajitas, a cheese enchilada, beans, rice, and sweet corn tomatilo.. so good! Then of course we topped it off with none other than deep fried ice cream, aka heaven in a dish.. here's the evidence :)

Skipping to a TOTALLY new subject, I saw the coolest things at fred meyer the other night while Justin was looking for paint for his hobby cars. Decorative window film! They have art scapes, light effects, and energy saving films. These are such a great investment if you have a horrible view (for example, a parking lot); need frosted glass (because maybe your bathroom has terrible lighting but you dont want to give the neighbors that view..) or you just want to help get the most energy savings out of your windows! Incredible things and can be fit to any type or size of window by either trimming one piece or using multiple pieces! I really liked the stained glass one! Heres a visual!:

Today I also started my new part-time job with Safeway Starbucks! A new step in life as I explore the options for the future! Seems to be a really great company to work for with some pretty nifty ideas. And last on my list to share with you all is todays Incredible Travel Deal! I will be sharing at least one of these each day I post!:
